May I present to you.... the Kubla Khan. I was lucky enough to find this sinful pork sandwich at a food truck called The American Meltdown. One stressful, pre-final afternoon at UNC, my chemistry professor taught my friend and I chemistry for like four freaking hours straight. Yes, we were the definition of struggle... BUT ask us if we passed though!!!! :) Anyways, I somewhat assume that he felt pity for us and offered to take us to lunch. Of course, being the broke and tired college students that we were, we accepted without hesitation. So, towards Mason Farm Road, there is a research building called the Genetic Medicine Research Building. Apparently, a bunch of food trucks rotate daily in front of this building. I thought this was a pretty neat fact to know, especially if you attend UNC Chapel Hill. Here's a picture of the building if you aren't familiar. Anyways, we came on a tuesday and found this gem. They specialize in their "melts" and sandwiches, but offer a lot of different food options such as cubanos, burgers, and fried brussel sprouts. Unfortunately, I do not know the exact date and time that this food truck appears on UNC's campus, however I know you can locate it easily on their website. If you don't feel like going on a scavenger hunt for this truck, I have good news! They recently opened up a storefront in the food court of SouthPoint Mall in Durham. I only tried one thing from the American Meltdown, but everyone that I know who has been has ranted and raved about it. I will be returning. I'm glad I could share this with you all, and I hope you get the chance to try it!
